Craig Pickering
It's 2008 and Alex is determined to become a sprinter after being inspired by Craig Pickering a Milton Keynes based Athlete who has had some remarkable success recently on the world stage. However, some kids Alex knows think that Craig is fiction and don't believe anyone in Milton Keynes can make it in sport so they set down a challenge. Alex has twenty minutes to prove Craig is real or they win the bet and Alex loses £50.
A race against time
Scene 1
It's 2008. We start a scene with Alex sprinting up and down a pathway with a stop watch. Alex is approached by three bully types.
Jack
Who's this bozo?
Christina
Who does he think he is? Linford Christie?
They all laugh. Jack stands in Alex's path to stop him.
Vic
What do you think you're doing?
Alex
I'm training to be a sprinter
Jack
A sprinter? In Milton Keynes?
More laughter
Alex
What you laughing about?
Christina
Nobody makes it in sport in Milton Keynes
Vic
So you're wasting your time.
Alex
Goes to show how little you know
Jack
Oh, yes, so what do you know that we don't

Deal. It's 11am now. I'll be back for 11.20 and I'm going to put my stopwatch in countdown mode.
Christina
That's great. Just get the money ready cause I'm looking forward to a good lunch.

Scene 2
We see Tom and Julie walking along having an improvised conversation when
Julie
Who's that running towards us
Tom
It's Alex. What's he doing?
Julie
He looks like he's in trouble
Alex
Tom, I need your help
Tom
With what?
Alex
I've got less than 20 minutes to prove the existence of Craig Pickering as succesful Milton Keynes athlete or I lose £50
Julie
You have got yourself in trouble
Tom
Ok, Alex. I'll give you some facts.
He ran for the Marshalls Milton Keynes Athletics club
He won gold in the 2006 under 23 uk 100 m
He got gold in the 2007 100m European cup
He got bronze in the world 4 x 100m relay marginally behind Jamaice by one one hundreth of a second

We see Tom and Julie thinking

Alex runs off at speek
Scene 3
We see Alex turn up at the library. He goes into the sport section and finds a magazine. He rolls it up, looks at the clock and see's that he has got 2 minutes left and so runs out of the library. The librarian see's him run and shouts
Librarian
Oi, you can't just take that.
The librarian runs after Alex
We see them run from a number of angles, with fast paced music playing. At one poing, Alex drops the magazine, he has to run back, the librarian nearly catches him but he manages to get away. The Librarian tires and has to stop. Alex see's that he has only 30 seconds left.
Alex
Right Alex, you better run like Craig Pickering
Scene 4
He starts running to a clock counting back. We synchronize this with footage of Craig
we see alex running in slow motion to music
He runs into the room with Jack, Christina and Vic, there are 3 seconds left and he throws the magazine on the desk in triumph.
