Life is in your hands

Narrator

Here. we see Susy, Jane, Julie and Stephanie, at Stephanie's house, having a sleepover.

Stephanie

What do you guys want to be when you grow up?

Jane

A banker. There's always lots of money and perks when you work in the banking world

Stephanie

That makes lots of sense. What about you Julie?

Julie

I'll be honest. I don't have a flippin clue at the moment. Ain't that bad?

Stephanie

No Julie, that's most people including me. That's why I'm asking as I really don't know what to do. What about you Susy?

Susy

Well my dream is to be a dancer. but I am thinking about quitting because all the girls at the dance school I go to have been there for years. They all seem to know what to do, I'm different to any of them and because of that I feel inferior in a way. Anyways, don't want to bother you with stuff like that.

Jane

You're not bothering us at all

Julie

And I admire you that you know what you want to do

Stephanie

No Susy. Don't let the fact that you're different stop you pursuing your dream.
My Grandmother used to say that it's those who are different who stand out but also that they are the one's that make a differece in the world.

Susy

Thank you all. You're probably right. I'll sleep on it. Good night

Stephanie

Good night

Julie

Good night everyone

Jane

Sleep well

Later that night

Susy

Steph, wake up

gently taps her

Susy

I had a dream that I had to dig something up in your garden. I went to look and found this, in a case in the ground your back garden. Do you know what it is?

Stephanie

Wow Susy. We've been looking for that for years. It was found by my grandmother back in
the 1930s. She told us about it but we've never seen it. Grandmother lived in a period when an alien force had taken control of people's minds.

Susy

How fascinating

the other two wake up curious to the discussion

Stephanie

The population were blissfully unaware of this.
Through the book she realised what was really going on. That they had, in effect, been hypnotised by this alien force into being their servants. She realised she had to do something about it. She had to wake the population up to what was really going on. Only then would they break away from the shackles of their mental imprisonment.

Susy

How did she do that?

Stephanie

Well this is what she told me...

-Flashback to the 1930s

Victoria

Ella & Sian, I've called you to this secret room cause my eyes have been opened to what is really going on. We need to fight this oppression.

Ella

But why take such a risk, we could get sent to the jury, you know, and heaven knows what would happen to us then! And anyway, how have you come to thinking the way you do?

Victoria

I found this book in the store, in the bin. It exposes the organisation! It exposes that we are in effect prisoners of a regime, not the benefactors as we've been lead to believe. We have to do this, not so much for us but for the generations to come. The lady who wrote the book took a risk too.

Sian

Ella, I never wanted to say anything for fear of punishment but you know what Victoria? I've always felt the same way. I'm in.

-Deeper Flashback-

-Shows Maria's hands writing the book

Victoria's voice over

The book was written by Maria Garcia in the 1830's. She found out about all that the Organisation did. She wrote this book to keep it recorded in one place.

Ella's voIce over:

Then what happened to her? Was she...?

does a head cut off gesture

Victoria's voice over

She was I'm afraid. That's why we have to do this. For Maria! Sian's in, Ella now we just need you. Help us please? When have I told you no?
Remember last week at collection when I covered for you when the master asked about you. You were-

-Flashback to Ella and Victoria-

Ella

I know! Finel When do we begin?

Victoria

As soon as we can.

-Flashback ends-

Susy

Your Grandma sounds really cool! So did she beat them? Or was she...?

does a head cut off gesture

Stephanie

No! She survived and now lives in America.

Julie

She sounds like an amazing person

jane rolls her eyes

Jane

Really, sounds like a work of fiction to me.

Susy

Well I, for one, believe it.

Susy

So how did she convert people?

Stephane

Through song and dance

Jane laughs

Jane

Well now I know it's definetly fiction. What a load of...

Stephane

Jane in moderin times we don't appreciate the power of song and dance but why do you think oppressive society ban them?

Susy

What song did she use?

Stephane

A song called your life is in your hands

-FLASHBACK-
SHOWS VICTORIA DANCING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE AND THEM
FOLLOWING HER STEPS. 25 SECS

Stephane

By this point, she had converted everybody. The aliens tried their hardest to apply more hypnotic pressure but by that time her growing population of followers' eyes had been opened too wide for them to be hypnotised again.

Susy

Is that the end?

Stephanle

Pretty much, yeah.

Susy

Your grandmother's an ispiration.
You know what? I think I'm going to remain in dance class after all, thanks Steph, much appreciated.

Stephanie

You're welcome Now go back to sleep l am so tired! And please, no more dreams. At least not for a while 😉

We are at a sleepover. One of the friends can't sleep and gets up in the early hours.  The night before she had revealed to her friends that she wants a career in dancing. She wants it so strongly, but having started classes, the other students had already been doing for a number of years before and she felt inferior and was about to give up.

While her friend sleeps she wakes up around 5am and goes out into the garden.
She, by chance, digs out a book from the ground in the garden (we film a silhoutte of her with the book as she returns to the tent)

On return she finds her friend awake and shows her the discovery.
The girl who lives there declares OMG, that's the book that my grandmother told me about.

"what's it about?"
"this is what she told me"
She recounts a story that her Grandmother back in the 1930s found the book. Her grandmother lived in a period when an alien force had taken control of people's minds. The population were blissfully unaware of this
Through the book she began to realise what was really going on, that they had, in effect been hynotised by this alien force into being their servants. She realised she had to do something about it. She had to wake the population up to what was really going on. Only then would they break away from the shackles of their mental imprisonment.

Life is in your hands

Verse 1
I have been hiding so much from you, for fear of losing my world
Today I have been learning so much that’s true
From Maria and her book on oppression

Bridge
Your life is in your hands, So don’t you waste a minute of it
Chorus
Please don’t hide, Desire deep inside, Push Judgement to the side
And please don’t hide, Those gifts God gave to you, To you and you and you
Your Life is in your hands
Verse 2
Till now I have been wasting so much of my time
Being fooled by those above us,
Today I have been learning so much that’s true
From Vicky and her technicolour words
Bridge
Your life is in your hands, So don’t you waste a minute of it
Chorus
Please don’t hide, Desire deep inside, Push Judgement to the side
Please don’t hide, Those gifts God gave to you, and you and you and you and
you and you and you and you and you and you, Yes all of you thank you.
