‘Goodbye Kids, remember your books for tomorrow’s lesson and well done for today!’ 

Isabel

‘I need my bed, that was so long’ 

Ben

 ‘you say that everyday, silly

Mean girl Veronica walks past and says a nasty remark

Veronica

you only did 100m, try doing 500m’

Emily walks up to Ben and Isabel looking glum

Isabel

you okay? What’s wrong with you?

Emily

Oh I give up, I’m leaving Squirrels

Ben

Emily, you can’t be serious. It was one badge’

Isabel

There will be more chances to get it and you’ve gotten all the others!!

Emily

Yeah one badge that everyone else got and everyone watched me fail

The group start getting ready to leave and join the other kids in the hall

Emily, you don’t have to stay at squirrels but you do have to stay with yourself. And you should be proud of what you did today.

Isabel

I stayed when I forgot the knots we learnt

Ben

I stayed when I burnt the cookies

Emily

Guys in the nicest way possible, I haven’t got a clue what you’re all on about

The other children start walking in slowly, listening to the last part of the conversation

Nudges Veronica, class all laugh

Sometimes staying is the hardest thing you can, like staying when something hard.
