Synopsis

scene 1

We're at a school and the teacher is announcing the people who will be representing the school in athletics.
So she announces a few which everyone is fine with. Then she announces that Chelsea has been chosen to do the long jump and a few of the students start laughting.

Teacher asks why are you laughing?
Then there's a whole dialogue of people ridiculing Chelea's ability. When it's declared that Chelsea one the trial, the doubters declare it was a fluke and say things like 'did a strong gust of wind push you further"  or did you slip on a banan skin.

We have chelsea's friend defending her. A group of friends who continue to ridicule the notion that she is a good at the long jump.

The teacher then declares. You can debate this all you like but chelsea is going to represent the school next week, and in fact here in our city of Milton Keynes we had an olympic champion long jumper who even after he won people were saying it was a fluke and yet he went on to win many more golds, inluding the world championship.

In fact, come with me I'm going to take you somewhere to see somthing.

Scene 2 - the monument

We film the teacher taking the students to the Greg Rutherford monument. They're not told, they're just amazed when they see it. That's how proud our city are of this athlete who despite the doubters proved himself.

The doubters though talk amongst themselves saying 'well, Chelsea isn't greg, she'll crumble on thursday'

The friend goes and talks to Chelsea "don't pay any attention to them"
to the friend 'I'm not going to say anything to them, I'm just going to do my best on Thursday

Scene 3 - the doubt

Friend
what's up Chelsea?

Chelsea
What if they're right
what if it was a fluke
what if I crumble?
What if I embarras myself

Friend
Don't you dare, you have a talent and you go and show the world what you can do

Scene 4 - the scout

they're in class and the doubters see chelsea and ask? well, how did you get on yesterday, and they're all laughting. Their laughter is interupted by the teacher. Class, we have special guest today, let me introduce you to a scout, his name is Greg Rutherford

Greg walks in and says
Chelsea, I watch you jump yesterday, you were amazing, you won it by a mile and we want you to join the junior british athletics teacm
We see the doubters faces

we see chelsea and her friend jump up

Scene 1 - The announcement

Opening credits  we have a voice announcing who have been chosen to represent the school in athletics

Miss Mara

So as promised I'm announcing the athletics team for next Thursday.

100 metres boys Peter thompson

100 metres girls Elaine Smith

200 metres boys Tom Benn

200 metres girls Julie Wilson

400 metres boys Michael Okodugha

400 metres girls Morewa Olasbiakan

Long jump boys Jared Morton

Long Jump girls Chelsea Jones

we hear laughter

Miss Mara

Why are you all laughing?

Clive

Well you are joking aren't you Miss?

Miss Mara

Of course not. Why would you think that?

Jenna

Cause I don't think she could jump the lenth of a pencil let alone a sand pit

Taylor

I think she'll do great we need to give her a chance

Naheemal

She's not exactly the athletic type

Taylor

Well you're not either

Naheemal

I'm not but unlike Chelsea I'm not claiming to be,  nor am I or trying to sabotage our athletics team

Miss Mara

Well then it may surprise you that she won the school trial

Clive

Well then a word comes to mind? ermmm, what is it...
...fluke

everyone laughs

Jenna

Was there a strong gust of wind after you jumped in the air Chelsea?

laughter

Taylor

You guys aren't funny

Naheemal

Or did you slip on a banana skin?

more laughter,

Taylor

You guys are so out of order.

Now everyone starts arguing and talking over each other. Chelsea starts pleading to Taylor to stop engaging with the doubters. This will be improvised

Miss Mara

STOPPPPPP. Do any of you know that here in Milton Keynes we have an olympic world champion and that after he won the olympics people doubted him and treated him like it was a fluke.

Jenna

who?

Miss Mara

Greg Rutherford

Taylor

My parents told me all about him. They said something about Super Saturday

Naheemal

Well it won't be very super if Chelsea is involved 

laughter

Clive

What the heck is Super Saturday anyway?

Miss Mara

Here, Let me show you.

Miss Mara goes to Youtube and shows them Super Saturday and in particular Greg Rutherfords triumph.

Miss Mara

In fact everyone, put your coats on, I'm going to take you somewhere to show you something very special

Scene 2 - the monument

We see the teacher walking towards the monument and when they get there

Wow that looks amazing

Miss Mara

That is a tribute to Greg Rutherford, it's called the leaping man. That's how proud our city are of this athlete who despite the doubters proved himself a winner again and again.

The doubters though talk amongst themselves saying

Naheemah

Well Chelsea isn't Greg.

Clive

I don't think they'll even make a paper mache monument to Chelsea.

despite wispering Chelsea hears what they're saying

Taylor

don't pay any attention to them Chelsea. In fact, I'm tired of sticking up for you. Why don't you reply to them.

Chelsea

I'm not going to say anything to them, I'm just going to do my best on Thursday

Scene 3 - The Doubt

Taylor

What's up Chelsea?

Chelsea

Nothing

Taylor

You know you can tell me anything

Chelsea

But what if they're right?
what if it was a fluke?
what if I crumble?
What if I embarras myself?

Taylor

Don't you dare, you have talent .
You're the one who told me you're going to prove yourself. So you show them.

Scene 4 - the scout

They're in class and the doubters see chelsea and ask?

Jenna

Hi Chelsea, did you find the sandpit yesterday

Naheemah

Did you feet leave the ground at all?

They're laughing

Miss Mara

Class we have a special guest, let me introduce you to Greg Rutherford

everyone gasps. Greg turns to Chelsea

Greg

Chelsea, I watched you jump yesterday, you were amazing, you won it by a mile and we want to talk to you about joining the junior british athletics teacm

We see the doubters faces and we see chelsea and her friend jump up in the air.

2 to 5 people watching tv in 2012, when greg wins everyone except one says that was a fluke and shouldn't have won.

Student at school finds out about Greg Rutherford, he get's home and starts talking to his family about Greg to find out more.
We need a story here as to how the family know so much.

was Emi is expanind Jamie's idea and suggests that they go back in time to the night that is was on and they tell the story.
Could it be that they were born on the same night super saturday.

Teacher showing example of a long jump. someone asks what the world record is and he says he doesn't know but his brother has done pretty well in the sport. So they want to know more about his brother and he begins to tell them using archive footage.

Greg Rutherford

Greg Rutherford was part of the amazing Super Saturday in 2012 when 3 brits won gold and yet even after this Greg had doubters who believed his win was a fluke. 
Chelsea is a quiet girl who is teased at school by a group of bullies. When they hear that she's been selected to represent the school in the long jump their teasing goes into overdrive believing that she hasn't got a sporting bone in her body. Are they right or can Chelsea prove them wrong?
