a class is sat in detention. ellie sits doodling in her notebook drawings of her performing on stage, jazmyn comes over and pushes the notebook away

pfft stay dreaming !

ellie goes over to her notebook and slams it shut

ellie

i will stay dreaming, and one day my dream will be a reality !”

jazmyn rolls her eyes

jazmyn

yeah right…

miss morley

girls, you need stay in your seats and stop talking please. this is detention, not a place for chit chat.

ellie and jazmyn

sorry miss morley

ellie and jazmyn sit back down. ellie raises her hand

ellie

miss morley, please can i sit my detention another time?

miss morley is shocked

miss morley

excuse me !?

ellie

the auditions for the school musical are happening in 10 minutes and i really don’t want to miss them!

it’s okay ellie, there’s always next year !

John

yeah, and you probably wouldn’t have gotten a part anyways

kristina

sorry, i just mean so many people are auditioning, so they probably wouldn’t choose you

kristina

John, you need to stay quiet.

miss morley

right ! i’ve already told you all that you need to be quiet. the next person to speak will have double detention. sorry ellie, but no, you can’t go to the auditions, you need to stay here.

ellie crosses her arms and slouches in her chair. she is cross. suddenly there is a loud commotion in the corridor

miss morley

what is going on out there !? you all need to stay here. i’m going to go make sure everything is okay out there !

miss morley goes to investigate the loud commotion in the corridor. kiley, who has been quiet up until now, turns to ellie

kiley

quick ! now’s your chance !

ellie

huh !?

kiley

go to the auditions ! don’t stay here ! you need to stay with your dream !

ellie

what !? are you sure ?

kiley

yes ! now go !

ellie runs out the room an runs across the school playground to the outside auditorium where auditions are about to begin

the camera follows ellie as she runs to the auditorium, there will be hurdles that she has to jump over/duck under in order to get there, e.g. fences etc

as this chase scene happens , the “commotion” from earlier appears and ellie weaves through them as the camera follows, the camera gets caught in the crowd for a moment and ends up panning to miss morley who is chasing after the crowd. miss morley notices ellie

ELLIE I TOLD YOU TO STAY IN DETENTION ! WHAT ARE YOU D-

suddenly a ball hits miss morley in the face

ellie keeps running and finally approaches the auditorium where people are beginning to leave, including the judges

Please stay and let me audition !!

judge 1

sorry but auditions over.

ellie doesn’t take no for an answer and runs on stage and starts singing. midway through, judge 2 interrupts the song

stop the song

ellie looks worried. the camera pans to judge 2 who is revealed to be simon cowell !
